Silver Lake Mid-Century-

A multi-year project, this midcentury home needed a complete down to the studs renovation. We kept the original ceilings but added slate floors and vibrant colors on the walls. Two bedrooms and a bath were added by excavating into the hillside on which the house is situated. Working with architect Emily Ain, some layout changes were needed to bring the house up to code, including a new interior staircase. In the updated kitchen, the cabinets are glass panelled, as the client wanted something impervious to water damage. The glass tile backsplash is custom. Most of the furniture is vintage. Custom kitchen cabinetry by Bucklan Design.
