West Side Cottage
Laura presented us with a unique problem: her existing kitchen was really cool and retro. But it was not functional. The layout was a bit tight, and there was not room for a dishwasher. After asking many times, "Are you sure?" (she was), we set out to create a new kitchen as sweet and inviting as the old one. We were able to annex a part of the adjacent hallway to create a new dining area and made sure to make room for a counter perch where she can read the paper in the morning. Laura wanted color, but she didn't want it too bright. The floral wallpaper works well with all the greenery you see through the windows. A bank of windows was added that open to the patio, as well as a new door, nicely linking the entertaining areas.
